i've been called "a very good anthropologist". this would be gratifying (i've certainly been called worse things) if a) i wasn't a bit suspicious that this was based upon previous bad experiences with arse anthropologists and b) if i felt like i did anything. there wasn't any expertise involved, just courtesy.

sleeping til after 2 was in many ways not a good move, but probably a necessary one. damn this World Cup. also the strange moment of internal narration "and now i'm reading about a lizard escaping in the post 100 years ago". It's the kind of moment that is never included in career guides.
