okay, yes, procrastinating.

just for the record, being a tutor has been good so far. it's still unnerving to have people asking me things as if i know what i'm talking about.

the first weeks, every hour i went without punching someone or screaming felt like an accomplishment, but it's getting better now they own their projects a bit more.

still kinda distressing when someone in an advanced anthropology subject asks me "where's Kula?", and as well as having no idea who Malinowski was, also has no idea about Radcliffe-Brown. also somewhat of a smacked gob with the student who complained that as part of her research she had to trawl books "that were like this [maybe 5cms] thick" (by the way, not read them, she just had to browse them). and the one who said "i've emailed all these people to ask about this, i just don't know where to go from here".

and i feel strangely out of touch with modern undergrad studies. how can you expect to write a research paper WITHOUT TRYING THE FUCKING LIBRARY? grouch growl growl

but on the bright side, cups of tea and little red apples that are crisp and just my kind of not-too-sweet. but still summery enough for good nectarines to be available. made fantastic pumpkin soup with the goodness of home-made stock and looking forward to autumn so i can try to make chestnut and rosemary pudding (vegan + gluten free! hurrah!)
