perhaps i popped in to say something, but that has been overwhelmed by reading all the bits and pieces that i've been missing for months.

(hiya. if you've noticed anyone going through all your words in the last half hour or so, it was me. sorry to be creepy)

do you realise that i spent 6 hours straight being positive and enthusiastic yesterday? all i could do afterwards was crawl home and lie on the floor for an hour, staring at the ceiling and thinking of nothing.

but i met a venezuelan sociologist who wants us to go dancing, plus an anthropologist from Ohio. (we asked why he was doing his phd here, he explained and i had to try mightily hard not to say "no, really, what the hell are you doing in Brisbane?").

and i think the tutor training person might actually have been in Weezer.

and at a small bus stop in suburban Taringa, an elderley Chinese couple hug their daughter as she gets on the bus to uni, and wave the bus off as well. this was loveliness enough for me, but then i noticed two blokes leaning on a ute who also noticed this and were smiling and waving.

things are fun and overwhelming. i suspect that from the 10hrs of work i've done this week, i'll be earning about what i was getting for 36.15 weekly hours as an admin monkey.

this does not diminish the fact that i'm in way over my head, but it should buy me some cushions when all things fall down.
