somewhere, i have faith, there exists my Platonic Ideal of shoe.

It doesn't give me blisters or sore feet. I can wear them with anything i own, on any occasion. I don't need to check the weather reports or avoid the cross-country shortcut on my way home with The Ideal Shoe.

Mock me if you like, I have been a shoe cynic before. I have settled for, wherever I could find a pair that were okay, or went with something particular, or if i just got really sick of shoe shopping.

But i choose the path of faith. I put my belief in the perfectible nature of soles. My Ideal Shoes are out there, and waiting, and i will not betray us all by settling for less.

(oh, unless you have a pair of green suede ankle boots. i've always fancied a pair of them).
