2005-06-21 - 6:26 p.m. (ooh, didn't mention the tea party. so lovely and gluttonous with her yummy english baked treats and hands wrapped fast around tea mugs -- with inevitable delving into the Pimm's too, with chopped fruit in it and all -- cosy on a rainy winter afternoon.) drove up to Mt Coot-tha after work to catch the sunset. i could avoid the worst of the post-exam traffic because i am clever and know my way around St Lucia and Toowong by the echoing voices of childhood ghosts (and that's where the scary dog was, and there's where my violin teacher lived, and oh i remember walking through there when i couldn't get a bus to Susan's etc etc). peaceful up there except for little Morgen getting overexcited about taking photos of peoples' bottoms (she's good at that, about the right height to do so if only she stops warning people by giggling). Jen tells her to watch for stars instead, and as soon as she decides there aren't any she sees a plane flying past. the little girl jumping up and down shrieking "the plane! the plane!", the grownups start laughing hysterically because we remember Fantasy Island, and she laughs at us for being so silly as to laugh at a plane. happy Solstice. |
